Game Recaps of 2006 Shoals Jug Rox Soccer

The Soccer Rox played their season opener last night against Edgewood. Edgewood was able to score 1 goal each half to gain the 2-0 victory. Shoals played tough, but will now look to their first home game next Monday. Come out and back the soccer team next Monday at 5. The first 500 people to enter the gate will get a free autographed Joel Potts sock. How can you beat that?
The Soccer Rox forged a tie with 3A North Harrison High School last night. The Rox controlled much of the game, but were unable to get the ball into the net, as the game ended in a 0-0 tie. Once again, the defense was steady with the seniors serving as the anchor. Kevin Hert, Seth Taylor and Tommy Hilderbrand led the offensive attack that out shot N. Harrison 20-11. Joel Potts got the shutout in goal. The team appreciates all the fans and hopes that even more come out for the next home game on Sept. 7 against S. Knox. Also, thanks to Wayne, Roger and Bryson for getting the field ready. See you on the pitch!
The Soccer Rox opened conference play last night at North Knox. The team played well and were able to leave town with their first conference point of the season, as they tied the Warriors 2-2. Tommy Hilderbrand scored 2 first half goals to put the Rox up by 1 at the half. N. Knox was able to tie the game in the 2nd half. After that, it became a defensive battle. Joel Potts was strong in goal, as Nathen Storey, Zach Mosier, Andy Perdue, and Evan Divine kept the strong N. Knox offense at bay. Derek Holt and Kevin Hert got the assists on the 2 goals. The team played very well, and did not back down. Joel Potts had the HIT of the game....and I mean HIT! (ask him about it
The soccer rox defeated Owen Valley Saturday, 5-2. The team was led by Tommy Hilderbrand's first career hat trick ( 3 goals ), Tommy also had 2 assists. Seth Taylor had a goal and an assist, as did Derek Holt. Derek scored his first career goal toward the end of the 1st half. Kendrick Fuhrman had an assist and did a nice job in the middle of the field for the rox. The defense did very well the second half, shutting out Owen Valley's offense. The team travels to Wood Memorial tomorrow.
The Rox soccer team got their second straight road victory last night against conference foe Wood Memorial. The rox won 3-1 behind the offense of Seth Taylor and Tommy Hilderbrand. Taylor opened the scoring for the Rox, while Hilderbrand ended it with 2 goals.
The soccer team's 4 game undefeated streak came to an end last night, as they lost a shootout with N.E. Dubois 4-3. A wet, soggy field made the night difficult for both defenses, while giving the offensive sides a chance to thrive. Senior Seth Taylor got his first hat trick of the year, scoring all three of the rox goals. Tommy Hilderbrand and Kevin Hert picked up the assists. Joel Potts made 14 saves in goal. Evan Divine, Zach Mosier, and Brad Otero did well on defense. Justin Warner, Nick Beasley and Ethan Adams provided a second half spark which almost led to a tie game at the final buzzer. The team has 2 home games next week, so get your tickets in advance and come prepared to make some noise!
The Soccer Rox won again last night, defeating Pike Central 2-0. Joel Potts had an excellent game in goal for the Rox, stopping 20 Pike Central shots. The defense stepped up the 2nd half to take some of the pressure off of Joel. Andy Perdue had a very strong game. Helping on the defensive end was Zach Mosier, Evan Divine, Nathen Storey, and Brad Otero. Tommy Hilderbrand scored a 1st half goal off of an assist from the Otero brothers (they will each tell you that they got it!). Kendrick Fuhrman scored his first goal of the year in the 2nd half to preserve the winning margin. Once again, Ethan Adams and Nick ( the energizer bunny ) provided good depth off the bench. The entire team played and did well. The Rox have a home game Thursday night. We expect you there and ready to be loud! Rowdy Rox Fans Rule!
The soccer rox got another conference win last night, as they defeated South Knox 4-0. Joel Potts got his 3rd shut out in goal. The entire defensive and midfield units played well (most of the game). Kendrick F., Brad O., Derek H., and Caleb O. dominated the midfield play. Everyone got to play and everyone played well. Freshman Nick Beasley got his first career assist, as he provided a great pass to Seth Taylor for one of his two goals. Kendrick Fuhrman scored the first goal of the evening from about 24 yards out, beating an unprepared S. Knox keeper. Tommy Hilderbrand added a goal, and the assists came from Nathen Storey (who had a great free kick), Kendrick Fuhrman, Seth Taylor, and Tommy Hilderbrand. Alan Dorsey, JJ Johnson, Jordan Hert, Nick Beasley, Justin Warner and Aaron Benge all added positive efforts to the game. The rox host New Harmony tomorrow morning @ 11 A.M. So, sleep in, get some Mt. Dew, and head to the soccer field for a great time! The team would also like to thank Wayne and Roger for getting the scoreboard ready. It was nice to see those numbers up there.
The Shoals Jug Rox hosted the New Harmony soccer squad on Saturday and forged a 0-0 tie. The shut out marked the fourth of the season for senior keeper Joel Potts. While the Rox came up short with several shots on goal, the defense was able to keep New Harmony from scoring. The Rox who now have 4 wins 2 loses and 3 ties will be on the road Saturday to play Christian Academy of Indiana.
